Mobile Phone services – In a statement, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that cellular services will remain suspended on specific routes in Karachi from 3:00 PM. (April 23) until 8:00 PM. (April 24) according to the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior.
Mobile phone services have been suspended on “specific routes” in Karachi as part of strict measures to ensure security during Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to the port city.

In addition to mobile phone services, the authorities also closed the city’s main arteries to the public & declared a public holiday in the city to avoid inconvenience to the public. Authorities developed a comprehensive security plan that involved a substantial deployment of law enforcement personnel throughout the city.

Highlighting the Karachi Police’s commitment to maintaining security standards, the spokesperson emphasized that all possible measures are being taken to effectively discharge its duties of safeguarding the visiting delegations.
To enhance security measures, snipers have been strategically placed in sensitive locations throughout the city. The stringent security arrangements underline Karachi’s dedication to hosting foreign dignitaries in a safe environment, reflecting the city’s ongoing efforts to bolster better relations with foreign dignitaries.
A total of 3,847 police officers and officials have been mobilized to ensure peace, tranquility & security of the foreign dignitaries during their visit to Karachi, the state-run APP said today quoting a Karachi Police spokesperson. In addition, 1,500 traffic officers and more than 300 Special Branch officers have also been assigned security duties.

The spokesperson, while sharing the details, said that the deployment of security personnel in different areas of the city revealed that 345 officers and employees are stationed in the Eastern District, 164 in the Western District & over 300 in the Southern District.
